Earn money by having a positive impact on learners

Why should I become a LearnerLift Educator?

Becoming a LearnerLift Educator offers many benefits:

(1) Earn money by helping learners reach their full potential.
(2) Work whenever you want, wherever you want, and as much as you want! You earn money based on the number of likes your questions and explanations receive. (See details below).
(3) Use your public LearnerLift educator profile to show off to employers your expertise, your ability to explain complex topics to a broad audience, and your passion for your field.

How do LearnerLift educators earn money?

As a LearnerLift educator, you can create questions whenever you like. After learners attempt a question and are shown the explanation, they are given the option of 'liking' the question, which is their way of saying that they found both the question and explanation helpful. Learners can like a question only once after viewing both the question and explanation. Once liked, this action cannot be undone. We track all question likes to determine your earnings. At the end of each month, we calculate the total number of likes for that month. We then determine, for each LearnerLift educator, their percentage of these likes. The higher your percentage of question likes for a given month, the higher your earnings will be for that month. Read about our revenue-sharing model below.

Our revenue-sharing model

LearnerLift generates revenue through advertisements and premium subscriptions. Each month, we allocate 50% of our revenue gained from that month to our LearnerLift educators. This 50% of revenue is then distributed amongst the educators based on their percentage of question likes for that month. For example, if LearnerLift generates a total revenue of $100,000 for a given month, $50,000 of this is then allocated to our educators. If there were 10,000 question likes for a given month, and 1,000 of those question likes were for questions you created, then your share of the $50,000 is 10%, meaning you would receive $1,000 for that month.

How do I become an educator?

To get started, create an account on LearnerLift. Once you've signed in, navigate to the main menu from the navbar and select 'Become an Educator'. On this page, you'll see the signup form for becoming an educator. We will ask you to provide and verify an educator email address (i.e. an email that has an .edu extension). If you do not have an educator email address, we ask that you instead provide any supporting evidence of your experience or potential as a LearnerLift educator, such as a LinkedIn profile, YouTube channel, or online researcher profile.

How often will I receive payments?

Payments are typically processed by the 15th of each month for the previous month's earnings. While we strive to meet this date, minor delays may occur due to banking processes.

How will I know how much I can expect to get paid each month?

Your educator account will allow you to see: (1) your percentage of question likes for the current month, and (2) the total amount in revenue generated for that month that is to be allocated to LearnerLift educators. This will give you an idea of what your 'slice' of the 50% of revenue is looking like for that particular point in time, including a monetary estimate. However, note that this is strictly an estimate and may differ from the percentage of revenue that you actually receive at the end of the month, simply because of our data continually changing.

I would like to become an educator but my field of expertise isn't listed on LearnerLift

At LearnerLift, we take pride in catering for all sorts of learning interests! If your field of expertise is not currently available on LearnerLift, you can list this field when completing the 'Become an Educator' form, in which case we will add this field as long as your application is approved and this 'field' does not violate our Terms of Service. Otherwise, you can let us know using our contact us form of any fields you believe should be added to our learning platform.

Does your algorithm for selecting the next question favour educators with higher question likes?

We prioritize questions for the learner that match any of their selected topics or fields, that match their adjusted difficulty level, and which the learner has not yet seen. Once relevant unseen questions have been identified based on topic, field, and difficulty, questions with more recent likes are slightly prioritized, ensuring a fair balance between experienced and newer educators. (Note: while the LearnerLift team uploads questions to the platform, our questions are automatically ranked beneath all questions uploaded by our educators).
